Vintage Elsa Schiaparelli hat and Anna Karenina movie

I wore my vintage Elsa Schiaparelli hat to visit Manhattan on Thanksgiving weekend.  I found this amazing vintage hat at New York Vintage, a fabulous treasure trove of vintage hats and clothing.

Elsa Schiaparelli hat, Zara coat (similar to Zara cream minimalist coat), silk scarf from Paris

Arun and I took the Amtrak train down to Manhattan.  The sound of the train whistle in the night and the gentle rocking movement of the train on the tracks feel so romantic to me.

We watched Anna Karenina at a local movie theater in NYC. The film is only in limited release, so I felt excited to be one of the first people to see it!

Here is a few minutes of footage from Anna Karenina:

It has a bit of everything I liked about the movie - the fluid movements, the headpieces and pearls, and the emotions between Anna, her husband and her lover. Plus, the cameo by Michelle Dockery of Downton Abbey fame!

Did you like the costumes in Anna Karenina? The millinery was fabulous! The costumes are a combination of period and 1950's style. Learn more about the costumes here: http://youtu.be/tpCEzsUwIIQ

  5. Those are some pretty cute gloves, Kathleen! I do like the hat you're wearing as well. It looks soft, yet it seems like it's got structure to it as well. I'm so excited to get *MY* hat this week! I've decided to dive back into the world after so much inspiration and encouragement. ^_^

  13. Such a romantic! I had a black, double breasted maxi coat with a faux fox hat inspired by everything in the film, "Dr. Zhivago". They're both long gone, but I still remember how I felt wearing them. I so understand this post.
