I am currently watching Agatha Christie Miss Marple mysteries on Netflix Instant and I am thrilled with all the 1950s hats. I asked some of my friends and milliners for their recommendations on the best TV shows and films with vintage hats.
Here are some of their recommendations:

Yi-chia, let me know what you think!
DeleteOooohh! I have been so curious to watch that series, but is it scary at all? I'm ok with it being a bit suspenseful, just want to be able to sleep at night. Thanks so much for commenting on my blog so I could find yours, Kathleen! ~Sarah
ReplyDeleteSarah,
DeleteI'm not sure, since it is not an American show.
It was such a delight to chat about hats in movies and TV shows with you, dear Kathleen. Thank you so much for posting my suggestions and partnering them with those wonderful videos. I'd not seen the Boardwalk Empire one before, and just adore it! Likewise I thoroughly enjoyed reading everyone else's ideas, and will definitely be watching all period movies and shows from here on out with an even greater eye on the hats worn in them.

Jessica, Thank you so much! I credit period and old movies with enhancing my understanding of how to pair vintage style hats with flattering silhouettes. Some hats are designed for skirt suits; I had not tried that pairing before seeing 1940's movies.
DeleteI've got Boardwalk Empire on my want list to see. It certainly is an art to partner the right hat with the right outfits. These vintage ladies made it look easy.
ReplyDeleteSo true!
DeleteI'm going to have to see some of these. You know the movie that got me into wearing hats was the Merchant Ivory film A Room With A View - all those beautiful hats worn by Helena Bonham Carter. Have you seen it?
ReplyDeleteNot yet. I will have to add it to my list.
