How to Pick an Easter Hat
Here are some tips on how to choose a hat for Easter 2013.
How to match your hat and dress - fashion tips based on advice from milliner Adrienne Bennett:
If you are wearing a Tea Dress on Easter Sunday or to a wedding, choose a broad brimmed hat with a round crown.
When the weather becomes warm enough to wear a sun dress, try a straw hat.
If you opt for a more formal look and wear a suit dress on Easter Sunday, wear a more tailored hat with narrow brim (This is a great opportunity to search for a classic hat at a vintage store).
If you are planning on wearing a sheath dress, choose a small brimmed hat (Small brimmed hats will also work well with the 'sporty dresses' that will be on trend for Spring and Summer 2013).
My tip:
Cloche hats are the natural choice for the 1920's drop waist dresses that will be in vogue after the period movie The Great Gatsby premieres this spring.
How to choose the best hat for your face shape:
Oval face shape - goes well with all types of hats.
Triangle face shape - hats that sit high on your forehead.
Square face shape - tilt the brim of your hat, wear it high on the forehead. Wear large earrings.
Elongated face shape - sunhats, floppy hats and other large brimmed hats. Pull hat brim down to your eyebrows.
Heart face shape - straight hats where the crown is wider than your cheekbones.
Round face shape - angular hats and large hats. Wear large earrings.
Narrow face shape - full hats that are not tall or narrow.
Wide face shape - pillbox style hats.

Monica, thank you!
DeleteSuch a strikingly beautiful hat! I think that Easter is the perfect excuse to truly pull out all the stops with one's hat. There's no such thing, come Easter, as too many flowers, too much netting, too many embellishments. Like spring's budding garden, an Easter hat is all about prettiness and cheer.
