Sunny Day at the Troy Waterfront Farmers' Market

What Hat to Wear to the Troy Farmers' Market

by Kathleen Lisson

Warm weather means the return of the outdoor Farmers' Market in Troy, NY. Arun and I filled my straw basket to overflowing with organic vegetables, gluten free bread and biscotti and fresh cheese.

Then we went to Yonder Farms to pick out some fruit trees, and I found plenty of colorful outfit inspiration in the flower beds!

  1. Your dress is so pretty! I love the color and print. Great straw hat and band. This is the perfect time to pick out flowers and plants. Love that Uncle Sam!

  2. That dress is so immensely pretty and really has a striking vintage (50s) vibe to it. I definitely let nature (the weather, flowers, seasons, etc) dictate my outfits. For example, this past Easter, instead of reaching for the more traditional palette of pastels, the blazing sun and unusually warm temps lead me to opt instead for a vintage floral dress in bold shades of red, yellow, blue, purple, and green on a white background.

Have a fabulous weekend, my dear friend!

  4. One great thing about warm weather: farmer's markets are back:) I do think some outfits I pick are inspired by nature, esp. with the abundance of floral prints in the past few years:)

  6. Kathleen, you look so dang cute, especially to be at the farmer's market. Now, I on the other hand, head to the farmers market (usually straight from the gym) so you can only imagine how I'm dressed. YIKES, you definitely have taught me a lesson. Love, love the choice of hat for the outting. Yes, I do let nature inspire my choice of ensembles on many occasions.

  13. You look like you belong amongst the flowers at Yoder farms! Your hat is terrific and the dress is so pretty and feminine. It's still not warm enough here in the South for Summer clothes.

  14. I wish we have such a thing here in Dubai as farmers market. Back in Malaysia oh, yes we have farmers market everyday at different locations but not here. Vegetables are limited in choices here and that's sad for green lover like me. You look like you had a great time there.. fabulously dressed!

  27. Oooh, what a lovely day out! You look so cool and chic- a good straw hat is so useful and very pretty teamed with florals. Definitely nature plays a part in my outfits I'd say! By the way, you have totally inspired me with your previous Great Gatsby outfit- I'm playing an orchestra concert next Saturday and then I have to go onto a wedding party afterwards and I am going to wear a concert dress with a head dress (sadly not my wedding one!) so I can then go onto the party without changing! Thanks for your outfit sticking in my mind!

  28. You couldn't look prettier if you had been set up by the stylist of a fashion mag. The nursery should have paid you to hang out there! Aren't fresh veggies the best? I miss Pike Place Market in Seattle ... we don't have anything like it here, or anything even close.
